cupcake flavors

you know when you are surrounded by say: babies, brides, teachers, coworkers, sweets {me!} or some sort of subject all day, every day and need a break?

well, i don’t. hence the “me” right next to sweets above.

see. i’m constantly thinking about baking, sweets and desserts. new flavors, new baking gadgets, new {custom} recipes. new this. new that.

it never ends. and i love it that way!

spring in fargo-moorhead

so. this will be my second spring in fargo. i survived my first winter!

hmm, sort of. who agrees with me that it is still winter out there?

oh well, let’s get back to spring. it seems like we are all working against the flooding nowadays.

for all of you who are not familiar with the fargo-moorhead area, there is the red river which floods every spring. making the area hectic and businesses worry about routinely operations.

so. have i fought the flooding yet you wonder? silly question, right!? of course i have :)

a couple of weeks ago, i teamed up with Q98, the active rock radio station in Fargo for a good cause. actually, i just baked. they were the ones that did it all.

the Q98 crew has a cover band called “trapped in pants” and decided to play a few songs at the sandbag operations center in the city of moorhead. the music was dedicated to all volunteers sandbagging at the place. and. as a way to thank them for their precious time.

the band featured kvly’s chief meteorologist hutch johnson! kvly channel 11 is the local nbc affiliate. {click here to see trapped in pants on the local news!}

i baked vanilla nutella cupcakes.

i was so excited to meet him and to see that he was eating one of the baking cup cupcakes that i forgot to take a photo !!! {this is when i wish i had a time machine}.

friendship

the last couple of weeks have been pretty insane.

i got stranded in bismarck due to a snow storm without any clothes. so i had to go to the local convenience store to get something to sleep in. yeah. classy.

ran tons of errands and took care of a few orders that came in, too.

but. enough with the boring stuff.

oh, this is not boring. but sad.  i had to decline two orders :(

the truth is. it did not feel pleasant.

one of the orders was for lisa, a sweet lady. she wanted cupcakes and cake balls for her mom’s 90th birthday.  yes.  you read right. 90th !

the reason i couldn’t serve my clients this week? well. i already had booked my… vacation. and could not undo.

i’m going to visit my best friend karla in florida. we have known each other for 19 years.

so. pretty please. give me a call in a week or so with your requests :)

i will miss you!

facebook & the baking cup

well. this is probably one of those shameless plugs you have to do just because.

it’s okay. i’m not ashamed. it’s called “shameless” for a reason.

before i even started the blog i went ahead and created the baking cup facebook page. so. i can say that i’ve been facebooking for a while.

but has gotten to the point that i maintain the fan page with some mobile uploads and posts. and. i’ve forgotten about posting photos or interacting more. however, in my defense, interaction, or lack of, it’s twitter’s fault :)

and to be honest. facebook is like flickr on steroids.  don’t get me wrong. i love flickr. i just think that if you can centralize your fans, comments and photos, why not use one medium, right?

oh, and i just posted tons of photos, too. not the mobile type. the real deal.

and the cupcake giveaway winner is…

one of the million things you probably don’t know about me is that i absolutely l.o.v.e. giveaways.

so. as you can tell, i had a lot of fun this time with the baking cup cupcake flavor giveaway  :)

a huge thanks go to all who voted and my peeps over at twitter and facebook.

you made it really hard. can i please say that the flavors were unbelievable?

{pina colada cupcakes with coconut frosting; oreo cookie cupcake with buttercream ice cream; “lavender” honey/vanilla cake with lavender frosting; dreamsicle (orange and cream) w/cream cheese frosting and orange peel on top; german chocolate cupcake with a delicious coconut frosting}

and so forth.

great – i’m hungry for cupcakes and i just got back from the gym !
