baking for a great cause

a couple of months ago i check my email inbox and scan subject line after subject line. (you know your typical get 30% off today + free shipping. or. don’t miss this week’s sales on so and so products. or better yet. a reminder to renew that magazine you haven’t subscribed to since 2005. really? if i haven’t renewed by now why bother emailing me with your renewal notice?)

yeah. back on the subject line. this one was very special. it read:

“habitat for humanity event”

i open it right away.

it was an invitation to a silent art auction to be held here in fargo.

“Home is where the Art is” was held in the beginning of february at the spirit room gallery in downtown, baby! all the proceeds went to the amazing cause of habitat for humanity – lake agassiz. the art was displayed in a unique & chic way.

i didn’t hesitate to answer back with a yes. actually it was more like: yes.yes. yes! not to mention that the baking cup was one of just a few selected businesses to participate at the event!

to me, all charities are awesome. and just to think i was going to give a bit of the baking cup sweetness for a good cause, it was unreal.

thanks for all that you do habitat for humanity.

here are two new flavors of the baking cup: lemon-lime cupcakes and oreo cheesecake cupcakes.

valentine’s day

in my opinion, today is just an excuse to celebrate the fact that we absolutely l.o.v.e. chocolate (even men) and candy. yes. men enjoy chocolate, too.

it seems that chocolate is in demand all the time. so i decided to make the most chocolaty cupcakes the baking cup offers.

remember that post where nutella was sold out in fargo? well, i have redeemed myself and stocked up. oh no, i was not going to let that happen again. ever. again.

these double-chocolate-fudge cupcakes with buttery frosting are a favorite.

they have the outside crunchiness  of a brownie with a soft cake inside. the buttercream frosting is extra buttery to complement the sweet center while the cake itself is a bit bittersweet.

they are chocolate nutella cupcakes.

happy chocolate day to you!

branding the baking cup

yeah. branding a business is crucial. imagine if you didn’t have a personality?! how boring would that be?

the same applies to any business, and the baking cup is no exception.

i am currently working on the image as a whole. i can’t wait to see when it all comes together. i am not going to lie. it is hard work! oh, and. i am impatient and anxious. the two together are a horrible recipe for waiting.

on the other hand, i have been working on some recipes. and here are the signs i designed for the oreo cheesecakes and lemon-lime cupcakes that were devoured at a great event. the baking cup was successfully part of an art auction over the weekend!

i will post about that shortly. i promise!

you are more than welcome to give me your 2 cents. trust me. i will not be offended :)

business after hours

one thing about the baking cup is that it does business after hours. always.

when you aren’t working, you are either sleeping, at the gym or savoring exquisite meals. my point exactly. you exercise your taste buds at parties and family or work gatherings. and that’s when the baking cup comes in. we offer a wide selection of custom desserts that will definitely delight your pallet and will allow you to enjoy your fun time by just placing an order with me.

when one ad agency in fargo approached me about doing business with them, i decided to make the best of the best. they asked me to include gold and blue in the decor, as those are the company’s colors.   easy!

“any flavor in specific?” i asked.

“chocolate cupcakes” they said.

“i would recommend our chocolate fudge cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting.”

“that sounds perfect. may we please order 6 1/2 dozens?”

“yes, you may!”

why make the best of the best? well. let me explain.

1) the baking cup carefully selects the highest-quality ingredients for all orders. 2) everything is made from scratch. 3) you have a reputation to protect, therefore the baking cup custom sweets will never let you down :)

whether it is your kid’s birthday or your friend’s graduation, the baking cup has to be remarkable because it is a special occasion. period.

this time the ad agency didn’t want the cupcakes for your typical “big client meeting.” they placed an order with me to stand out among all the businesses at the business after hours event hosted by the fargo, moorhead & west fargo chamber of commerce. how cool is that?

the agency gave away the cupcakes in baskets along with their dvd reel wrapped in cellophane paper. the cupcakes looked great!

as a business, i was happy to be part of another business’ special event. i was also happy to know that we both were making a difference in the fargo community.

the baking cup is getting serious

i purchased something. not for me, but for the baking cup (my business, as you know).

i get giddy with joy when i go shopping. who doesn’t, right? but this. this is different. how do i explain it to you?…let’s see…you know the feeling when you eat that i-went-to-the-gym-and-now-i’m-going-to-mcdonald’s-to-get-fries because i deserve it? well. that feeling.

75% of the christmas presents i was given were the baking cup related. i have been trying to utilize each one of them since then. and. well. i have never been happier! it actually makes a huge difference when you have the proper tools.

speaking of tools. i ordered a great business tool. this was a christmas present, as well. the tool will open many sweet doors for the baking cup.

that. tool. or better said. the tools are: business cards !!!

i am so happy to share this with you.

i took my time when ordering. more like a couple of weeks. i looked and looked for that photo to put on the business card. and nothing. finally, i decided to go with one of the first ones i took, which i actually posted on this entry here.

the site where i placed the order is a.m.a.z.i.n.g. (it was recommended by the awesome people who gave it to me). it’s called moo and they have a wide variety of cute, modern and clever designs. one thing i have never seen before is that they offer regular and mini business cards. it is unique.

here are some screen shots of my order. cannot wait to show you when they arrive!
