wedding!

i’ve been looking forward to this post for a loooong time. if you like weddings, then you are going to love this :)

my dear friend amanda doesn’t like cake. and let me just say that this is more common than you think. i often stumble upon people making requests for pies, cookies, brownies or cheesecake. but not cake. strange, isn’t it?

i was not only honored but stoked when amanda asked me to bake for her wedding! she is so much fun and super laid back. love her.

she wanted mini cheesecakes {only} at first but changed her mind and asked me to bake additional chocolate peanut butter cupcakes & lemon cream cheese cupcakes. she has great taste because i looove the flavors and sweets she picked out. don’t you agree?

we had several meetings {more like dinner parties} and talked about color scheme, frosting shapes, flavors and all things wedding.

throughout the process amanda was super easy going and amazing to work with! ty. her now husband. was sooo nice also. oh, and he eats and loves cake.

what an awesome bride & groom. they are beautiful inside out! so happy to call them my friends ;)

the wedding was amazing filled with pretty details. it was held in lake country minnesota where pretty scenery is always present. add that to a beautiful couple and you get awesomeness!  i wish ty and amanda all the love in the world for their marriage.

xoxo!

love post

recently celebrated 5 years of being together with the boyfriend. it was on a saturday, so we had the whole day {insert weekend here} to ourselves.

confession: didn’t bake anything for the big 5. it’s okay. i’m saving it for his birthday !

there was a bike ride, picnic with a blanket where we had delicious handmade bread with wild blueberry jam, more bike riding, fancy dinner and out & about with friends.

did i mention everything was planned by my other half?!? i had no idea what we were going to do because he kept telling me we were just going to “hang out.”

i love him. with. capital. l. {i don’t use caps but who cares??!? LOVE YOU bf, love you !}

here’s a recap in photos.

p.s. swing by clock tower cafe for cupcakes this week and leave me a message on here or facebook with your feedback ;)

the unbelievable cake

i’ve been looking forward to this post for a quite a while.

why, you ask?

well. here’s the thing. i don’t think that you’ve heard of such a great combination of flavors before. cake flavors that is. more on that in a second.

see. i have the best clients. and i thank each one of them for being so special and unique.

a.b.s.o.l.u.t.e.l.y. l.o.v.e. i.t. !

patricia contacts me and tells me that she wants a replica of the smallest tier of her wedding cake.

a little background on the lovely patricia: she is a magazine, web and newspaper writer. a tv/radio reporter. a wife. and a mom. oh. and. she just launched her new fabulous website. click here to check it out.

i say, “um uh… what is the occasion?”

she responds, “well. i would like to surprise my husband with the cake on our wedding anniversary.”

my heart pretty much melted. are you kidding me? that’s the best thing i’ve heard all year!

she’s kind of hesitant to tell me what is the cake like.

“okay, patricia. that’s the best present! can we be best friends?!?”

“yeah, our wedding cake was really unique and want to surprise him with it.”

see what i’m saying? she’s not telling me the type of cake yet :)

she tells me that she got married in florida. so i’m now prepared for the cake to be a tropical flavor.

are you ready? because i had no idea !!

“lemon poppy seed cake with coconut cream cheese frosting filled with fresh sliced strawberries and coconut cream cheese” she says.

“haa? say what?”

she bursts in laughter after my reaction – hahaha – it was funny.

“patricia” i say, “that is the most amazing combination of flavors yet!”

i then delivered the cake because she has a baby – that type of baby you see in magazines – yeah, really.

here is her tweet about the cake.

oh. and some pictures, too!
